Using technology to save time and streamline communication – not to mention improving the patient experience – led this medical practice to a 20% increase in profits within three months |

Challenge |
| |
Dr. Michael Zetz wanted his two orthodontic offices to be among the most technologically advanced in the area. Specifically, his goals included the following: |
| |
- "Paperless" offices, with computers at each assistant’s station.
- Seamless music for patients to enjoy throughout each room.
- Digital x-ray machines and an HDTV-outfitted presentation room that would allow patients to see their x-rays in detail, to help them understand their treatment plan.
- Reliable communications between his offices, as many clients visit both locations during routine treatment.
|
| |
Dr. Zetz’s practices also faced a number of daily challenges that robbed his staff of valuable time – and, therefore, revenue: |
| |
- Assistants spent time every morning pulling charts for patients to be seen that day.
- Each x-ray took an assistant and patient chair out of rotation for more than 15 minutes.
- Patient charts were only available onsite, which limited the work Dr. Zetz could do remotely.
- There was no way to measure a procedure’s actual time versus projected time – important information for effective scheduling.
|
| |
Finally, because this was a medical office, every solution required HIPAA compliance. |

Keeping in mind the ultimate goal of ease of use, we developed a four-phase process for addressing Dr. Zetz’s challenges and goals. From wiring the facility for audio, telephone and networking, to placement and configuration of all equipment, to training of staff members on equipment operation and maintenance, we created the necessary groundwork for success.
We installed computers at each workstation, allowing Dr. Zetz and his assistants to update patient information during each visit. Setting up a secure communications network between locations, we were also able to connect both offices flawlessly. |
