Overview |
|
| |
An outdated, piecemeal approach to IT put this professional financial firm’s operations at unneeded risk, slowed their productivity, and threatened to taint their professional image. Kotori turned things around on all counts. |

Challenge |
|
| |
The company had subsisted for years on “old” technology – outdated computers and a dial-up internet connection – but its business requirements now demanded better technology to keep pace with operations.
E-mail was a particular challenge. The company relied on an AOL account for e-mail and internet access, with all individuals in the office using one e-mail account between them. Dial-up internet wasn’t enough to assure a stable connection, so e-mails could not be sent efficiently. In addition, the use of one e-mail account for all professionals on staff threatened to present an unprofessional image to clients.
Data was saved without account security on several computers – not centrally located. The firm’s scheduling system was only accessible from one workstation and was difficult to manage. With no data backup plan, the firm could not access tax information quickly and therefore had to wait on IRS mailings to proceed. |

Solution |
|
| |
Kotori revolutionized The Wyatt Firm’s information technology, installing a file and database server, setting up a broadband internet connection, and installing Microsoft Exchange to handle the company’s e-mail, scheduling, contact management and task management seamlessly. We set up a remote workplace, which allowed all employees to connect to their office desktops from any computer with an internet connection. Finally, we created a remote backup solution for secure offsite backups. |

Results |

These changes alone increased office productivity and efficiency by 49% and improved project turnaround time by a stunning 70%. On the personal side, the introduction of a remote workplace gave The Wyatt Firm’s staff flexibility to spend time away from the office without losing momentum on projects, and permitted the owner to work efficiently even while traveling. |
