Anti-Virus

Optix Mail Security scans both incoming and outgoing mail for viruses, worms, and other malware. Virus scanning occurs after other filters have been applied.

White listing

Users often get started by using Optix Mail Security’s automated Outlook Whitelister to build a whitelist of their legitimate correspondents. This is accomplished by running an automated utility that harvests Outlook contacts and addresses from messages in your Sent folder. Automated “whitelist on first outbound” and “whitelist on reply” features keep building your whitelist over time. Whitelisting can be done on an address or domain basis.

Content Filtering

Users are generally deployed utilizing content filtering to screen messages from unknown senders. Filtering provides simple set-and-forget protection, although users must recognize that filtering is a imperfect technology that requires routine inspection of a quarantine folder to identify erroneously blocked messages. Protective Address

The Protective Address capability provides users with an unlimited supply of alternative addresses, all of which are connected to a single inbox, are individually manageable, and are automatically managed by the system. The Permitted Language and Permitted Country capabilities can block significant amounts of spam by ensuring that users never receive mail in languages they can’t speak or from countries outside their organization’s geographic area of operation.

Address-on-the-Fly

The Address-on-the-Fly capability makes it easy for users to employ alternate aliases for a single inbox. This allows users to spontaneously disclose a purpose specific address on a Web site, in a discussion forum, in print, etc. These addresses take the form of a root name plus a suffix of the user’s own choosing. For example, to register on eBay, Jane Doe might disclose the address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , where the ".eBay" suffix serves as an "email PIN" that assures delivery of email sent to this address. Addresses are independently controllable by policy through simple interaction with the Total Control Panel, so that legitimate users of the address can be "locked down" in the event the address is ever harvested and abused by a spammer.
