Setup IMAP with Kotori Exchange

Note: These procedure are developed for Outlook 2003.  However other email clients are very similar.   IMAP is an alternate email protocol that you can use to access your MailStreet account when you are not able to use Outlook.

1.  From Outlook (2002/2003) go to Tools / Email Accounts and add a new email account. Choose "IMAP". In other email clients, find the account settings and add a new IMAP account.

2.  Enter in the necessary IMAP Server settings:

For Incoming server enter:   mail.mse4.exchange.ms For Outgoing (SMTP) server enter:   mail.mse4.exchange.ms

For Username enter the "short" portion of your username and then add on "@" + your domain name. For example, if your username were JDOE and your domain name were @mycompany.com you would enter jdoe@mycompany.com for a username. (If prompted for a domain enter "MSE4")

3.  Enable Outbound Authentication - you need to authenticate for outgoing email or you will not be able send email via IMAP through the Kotori Exchange service. Choose the same settings as your incoming server.

4. NOTE: Some IMAP accounts will require you to enter your username in the username @ domain format. For example, if your username is "jsmith" and your domain is "mydomain.com" then you would enter "jsmith@mydomain.com". Other email software will want the user name in just the username format. If you are prompted for a domain name in some email clients you will need to enter "MSE4" for domain and just use the "short" username format.

Outlook Express users should use the user @ domain format.

5. Click OK and your are Finished.
